This sophisticated label Benedetti Life, founded by award-winning designer Matea Benedetti, truly embraces luxury fashion in a sustainable and animal-free way. Not only does the lush- Slovenian brand produce their products in Italy using local non-toxic, vegan textiles to create its Haute looks with unique water-based prints, but it also ensures social sustainability by hiring locally, and by preserving the “Made in Italy” artisanal traditions with its ethical, transparent production practices.
Matea Benedetti’s work has been recognized with myriad awards and nominations, including by renowned names like Vogue and Elle. Benedetti’s Tencel Lux dress was worn at the 2022 Oscars Red Carpet Green Dress by Billie Eilish’s mother, actress and screenwriter Maggie Baird. The dress will be in the permanent collection of the Red Carpet Green Dress ™ collection alongside Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton.
Matea moved into sustainable fashion when the first sustainable textiles came to market, desiring to create a brand that gave a voice to animals living under threat. Ever since she was a child, animal well-being was a huge inspiration in her life. “Since I was a child, I have loved animals. Benedetti Life is inspired by animal species facing extinction. I wanted not just to create something healthy, sustainable, and animal-free, but to give a voice to animals without rights, because today, every 24 hours, 200 species die.” -Matea Benedetti
Benedetti Life uses only biodegradable textiles or those produced from food industry or plastic waste. 90% of the brand’s garments disappear in a landfill in less than five months with minimum impact on soil and air. Choosing Benedetti Life is a choice for conscious, unique luxury fashion that stylishly stands out - all while making a positive statement. Benedetti feels young, fresh, fun and cool - but still elegant.

INSPIRATIONS, COLLABORATIONS AND VISIBILITY
Each Benedetti Life collection’s design is inspired by an animal species in danger of extinction because of human impact.
Parrot collection - raises awareness of the extinction of these beautiful and clever Amazonian creatures.
Octopus collection - made with sustainable wood silk, pineapple leather, vegetable buttons and organic textiles. It is one of the rarest biodegradable and non-toxic collections in the world. The whole collection is dedicated to this intelligent animal with blue blood, three hearts and nine brains.
There are no seasons and years taken into consideration for Benedetti Life designs. The collections are timeless and are meant to reduce consumption – part of the “Slow Fashion” movement.
In 2019, Matea Benedetti collaborated with Jan Oblak, Atlético Madrid goalkeeper and captain of the Slovenia national team. Oblak wore a Benedetti Life elegant suit in Madrid at the 2019 Marca Gala, receiving the Ricardo Zamora Trophy for the best goalkeeper in Spain’s LA LIGA. Also, Jan Oblak’s sustainable Life BOX was designed in collaboration with Benedetti Life and has his personal signature on a bamboo T-Shirt. It’s a big step towards spreading the message of environmental protection to audiences around the world by way of the football field.
Since 2021, Matea started designing sustainable uniforms for employees at Hisa Franko (a two-Michelin star restaurant). Matea is also collaborating with the world's best female chef, Ana Ros, and the two have launched a sustainable HOME DECOR LUXURY line called Benedetti Life by Ana Ros.
ABOUT MATEA BENEDETII
Matea Benedetti – one of the world’s few, and most notable, sustainable fashion designers closely linked to unifying the concepts of beauty, luxury, and innovation.
Matea Benedetti is a Slovenia-based fashion designer who started her career as a costume designer for opera houses and theatres. With 20 years of experience, she has gained international recognition due to her creative and innovative work. Her works have been featured in fairs and shows in Milan, Paris, Los Angeles, Kuwait and Singapore, among other locations.
Throughout her successful career as a costume designer, Matea has demonstrated her passion for sustainable fashion through her creative work, and in 2014, she started experimenting with her first ecological fashion brand. That same year, VOGUE ITALIA selected it as one of the TOP 20 most promising eco-friendly clothing brands in the world. Matea became determined to establish a global luxury brand – specifically one that utilises beautiful designs made with the best interests for the environment in order to promote a planet-conscious ethos. Since 2017, Matea has put her costume designer career on standby to focus solely on the development of Benedetti Life, her sustainable luxury fashion brand.
Matea is also a motivational speaker, advocating avoidance of the polluting practices of the mainstream fashion industry. She lectures on Fashion Design at the Faculty of Design in Ljubljana.
Matea strongly believes in a healthier, more socially responsible and more environmentally friendly world. Her goal is to be a part of the bigger picture – one that places humanity on a higher level of consciousness with respect to nature and all forms of creation.
